If you are looking for something truly unique, this bracelet is for you; like wearing a piece of history on your wrist. The colorful cabochons are made of Fordite and although each has its own pattern, they fit nicely together. Fordite, sometimes nicknamed 'Detroit Agate' or 'Motor Agate' is not actually a gemstone, but rather a result of the old way of hand-spraying cars. The Fordite is the accumulated enamel paint which was 'baked' over many, many applications. This hardened slag is then able to be cut and polished. As this process is no longer used, Fordite is harder and harder to come by. As you can see from this bracelet, there are four cabochons held together with sterling jump rings. A handmade hook clasp completes the piece. Each cabochon measures 5/8 inch diameter and the bracelet measures about 8 1/2 inches in length.
